Sir Bediviere was the knight who returned the sword Excalibur to the Lady of the Lake. King Arthur asked him to do this because he couldn’t do it himself.

 

At first Bediviere hesitated to throw the sword into the lake. So, he went back to King Arthur and lied to him that he gave the sword back. He also said that the sword dropped right to the bottom of the lake. When the King heard this he couldn’t believe it and knew that Bediviere was lying.  Arthur send Bediviere again to the lake but this time he threw Excalibur in the lake. A hand raised from the lake an caught the sword. Finally the hand that was holding Excalibur disappeared into the lake again. And at last the final wish of the king was fulfilled.
